It seems like it’s only a party of one for Toronto R&B/electro-funk artist Brendan Philip's new video “Shadow Ceremony.” Off his upcoming self-titled EP, set to be released through Fake Art/Dine Alone Records on May 12, Phillip brings his trademark airy vocals under tempered 808’s and unstable synth chords while he dances in the dark with his silhouette. All this as a woman’s hand slowly encroach around his shoulders and as strobe lights fill the background, creating what looks like a Hitchcockian-inspired acid trip.

"The Shadow Ceremony video is inspired by noir-film psychotic episodes and the blinding phenomena that love lays on you when you least expect it," Philip explains, "The blue and red lights are also intentional; signifying a color scheme that reflects trust and passion and how those details travel through your vanity and ego.”
