Premiere – Promise Land ‘Faces With Faces’

Johann Rashid returns with his electronic project that he describes an excuse to "to practice handstands, roundhouse kicks, or the place to just yell at the people I know or don't know.”

When he's not making films with The UV Race and Ariel Pink, Johann Rashid has spent his time working in various musical projects. Whether it's the thugish kraut-punk of Eastlink, the funky unease of Home Travel, or the claustrophobic aggression of In Swarm, the vein that runs through all of Rashid's projects is an almost ritualistic rawness.

This feeling extends to Rashid's electronic project Promise Land, which he describes as an excuse "to practice handstands, roundhouse kicks, or the place to just yell at the people I know or don't know.”

Promise Land's latest single “Faces With Faces” backs up a surprise set to 3000 people at Mexico City's Festival Nrmal, and a secret set to 10 people in a Queens basement.

Catch Promise Land Oct 3 in Brooklyn at Alphaville.
