There's So Much to Be Sad About These Days but Here's a New Menzingers Song

Listen to "Toy Soldier," a surprise new song from Philly's phinest.

These days, when someone mentions that things have been tough lately, the statement doesn't need much further explanation. A vague gesture towards the burning world we live in usually suffices. So on The Menzingers' surprise new track "Toy Soldier," when singer-guitarist Greg Barnett drops phrases like "What am I to do with all this sorrow?" and "there's so much to be sad about these days," it doesn't really require much more context. The song leans into war imagery as Barnett continues: "The war ain't over, little toy soldier. This is the calm before the storm."

No word on whether "Toy Soldier" is just a random one-off or something the band is cooking up for their new record, but we will say that the last time they dropped a new song sans context it wound up being the standout track off of their last album After the Party.

The Menzos are playing Gov Ball this weekend if you'd like to join us in singing along about how horrible things are. Should be a good time!
