Here's What Chris Farren Did with His Big TV Debut, Baby

Making the entire studio audience wear masks of yourself would normally seem weird but on 'The Chris Gethard Show' it makes perfect sense.

Chris Farren has a natural gift for marketing his #brand. He is so ridiculously good at coming up with clever ways to promote his music that it borders on art itself. So when he got his chance to make his Big Television Debut, Baby on The Chris Gethard Show last week, he did not disappoint.

Of course, competing for the spotlight on Gethard is a daunting task considering the anarchic comedy show is staffed by people named The Human Fish and Vacation Jason, and because Diddy might burst through the door at literally any second. And it was particularly difficult to stand out on this episode judging by this shot of Gethard and Will Ferrell doing, uh, whatever this is:

But Farren, whose birthday is April 29, still turned out a memorable, sensual one-person performance by playing three songs decked out from head to toe in glitter, sequins, LED lights, and some of the finest overalls you’ve ever seen in front of a projection of his own portrait. At one point, he made use of his 50-foot microphone cable by leading a sing-along through the studio audience who, of course, were all wearing masks with Farren’s face on them.

It feels wrong to speak in hyperbole, and yet declaring this anything less than The Greatest Television Performance of All Time seems disingenuous. Watch the perfect set above, and just a reminder that The Chris Gethard Show airs Tuesdays at 11 on truTV and consistently has stellar musical guests.
