I've mentioned before that the St. Vincent press train has been absolutely raging as she amps up for the release of her fifth album MASSEDUCTION. It's due October 13, and as the profiles keep on coming, so do the fun tidbits about Annie Clark's new project.The latest, from her interview with Rolling Stone, is that there's almost certainly a second version of MASSEDUCTION, and, even better, we'll probably get to hear it. She reportedly made an "alternate, stripped-down" version of the record with Thomas Bartlett, the pianist who records under the moniker Doveman. Of the second version, Rolling Stone say "a release date […] has not been announced"—which makes it seem like one is definitely coming.It's definitely an interesting prospect, considering that the finished version of MASSEDUCTION was co-produced by Jack Antonoff, whose stamps have been all over the music we've heard so far, in particular "Los Ageless." It'll be fascinating to see what Clark does with the songs when she has a different collaborator—whatever it is, it's certain to be earth-shatteringly ingenious.Follow Lauren on Twitter.
