Coco O. and August Rosenbaum Make Sunday Service Sexy in This New Video

”Credo, Pt. II” is a sensory overload of biblical proportions.

Seeing as I’m neither a priest or the main character in an occult thriller series like True Detective, the thought of perusing a dark church at night isn’t really among my top priorities. I’m honestly more tempted by the thought of going to my high school reunion sober or provoking a random dog on the street into biting me in the leg. But assuming I’d somehow allowed myself to be lured into a church at night, and met a strange man playing piano in the dark, marble halls, I would definitely be the first to say: “Nope, nope, nope, that’s it for me, you guys, I’m out.” I’m just not the adventurous type.

But sometimes foolhardiness pays off. And that is the case in the new video for August Rosenbaum’s “Credo, Pt. II.” After the Danish pianist and producer has ominously scared the shit out of us in the aforementioned hallways, we are led to a neon—and candlelit altar, where songstress Coco O. is waiting, bathed in light, as if magically conjured forth through an angelic ritual.

The original track (which is purely instrumental) is off of August Rosenbaum’s new album Vista, which dropped November 24, but the 30-year-old Dane has since shared the new version with vocals. And if the original composition felt like an acoustic bombardment of our emotions, Coco O.’s warm voice and subtle lisp make this track a sensory overload of biblical proportions. Following her feature on the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby and a critically-acclaimed Quadron album (which boasted, among other things, a Kendrick Lamar feature), few had seen a four-year wait coming until Coco O.’s next release. But now she’s back—and clearly having no trouble making young people everywhere’s greatest fear—wasting their youth—sound sexy and hella moving.

This sentiment is only intensified further in the Jasper Spanning-directed video. And the collaboration between him, Coco and Rosenbaum, who has previously worked with Rhye and , among others, is far from coincidental. “Jasper, Coco, and I have been friends since we were teenagers, and I’m so proud of them both. They’re insanely talented in their respective fields, and it’s so awesome to have created a space where all three of us have been able to make something so cool,” says August Rosenbaum.
