The British Masters, Series 3 Chapter 5: Cosey Fanni Tutti
John Doran spoke to the Throbbing Gristle member and visual artist about what it feels like to spend four decades ripping down the establishment.
Ever heard of Cosey Fanni Tutti? If you haven't, you seriously need to revaluate what you've been doing all your life. Here are some things that she is best known for: being in transgressive bands like Throbbing Gristle and Chris and Cosey, being a member of the notorious 70s performance art collective Coum Transmissions, and basically doing everything in her power to shake up the establishment, including throwing exhibitions that involved used tampons and blood-covered dildos and making songs where she screams about murderers. Basically, not only has she spent the past four decades pushing boundaries, but she's spent them pretending those boundaries never existed in the first place.
Luckily for us, and for you, Noisey host and seasoned music journalist John Doran spoke to Tutti herself for the fifth chapter in our third British Masters series. You can watch that conversation above. And, if you haven't seen them already, you can also watch our past episodes of the British Masters with Liam Gallagher, Tricky, John Lydon, Shirley Collins, Dizzee Rascal and Richard Ashcroft, among many, many others.
