Watch Whitney's New Video for Their Cover of Lion's "You've Got A Woman"

And then go tell them to release a studio version of NRBQ's "Magnet," please.

Falsetto-heavy Chicago indie band Whitney will follow up last year's brilliant debut LP Light Upon The Lake with a 12" this summer. The release will feature two covers: Dolly Parton's "Gonna Hurry (As Slow As I Can" and the slightly more obscure "You've Got A Woman," a 1975 single from Dutch psych band Lion. Because Julian Ehrlich's voice can hit highs that few other modern indie bands dare to reach for, Whitney sound comfortable on both covers. This morning, the band released an official video for "You've Got A Woman" and, like Whitney's music, it's sun-dappled in parts, retro, handsomely shot, and at home in a dive bar.

Watch the video above. It's great. But sooner or later, somebody has to grab the band by the scruff of their collective thrift store T-Shirt and and tell them to release their cover of NRBQ's "Magnet," another obscure cover that they've been playing on the Light Upon The Lake tour. It's bright and pretty and slightly silly with all of its similes and all the more endearing as a result. Seriously, I'm tired of scouring YouTube for a good enough live recording.
