Watch QUIÑ Strut Through an Enchanted Forest in "MATH"

The song was featured on the LA singer's debut EP 'GALACTICA'

LA-based singer QUIÑ has made her mark by illustrating her visuals with alternate fantasy worlds, filled with sprawling plant life, vibrant color, and bodies shimmering in the light. Today, we're premiering the video for her song "Math" which was featured on her 2016-released debut EP GALACTICA. The song is an airy questioning of the self, urging you to look within to pull yourself through life's challenges. The video was directed by Calmatic who has worked with other LA standouts like Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, and The Internet. Through email, we spoke with QUIÑ about the vision for the new video, her brand of "fantasy soul," and what she has coming for 2017. Watch "Math" below.

NOISEY: You describe your music as "fantasy soul." How would you distinguish it from conventional soul music?
QUIÑ: To me, Soul music is Soul music. We channel, we express, and it all comes out from a far away place that lives in us.  My far away place is a fantasy world with infinite possibilities of sounds and stories, so to simplify its infiniteness, I just named it Fantasy Soul music.

Your song "Math" feels like it's about making love more complicated than it has to be. Did an experience from a former relationship drive you to write it?
MATH is like the ultimate equation, and everyone has their own variables to add to it. For me, it had nothing to do with anyone else but myself. It's about MATH as the universal language. It's about self love. It's about finding the strength to lift yourself out of the darkness after swimming in it for too long. It's all about our shadows and the realization that you have the power to solve every problem in front of you. The darkness we like to hurt in is made for us to fight through and evolve from, and when you simplify it down to the root, it's all Love so, it's all good.

What were you aiming to convey with the video?
I just wanted everyone to get a little taste of my true self.

What should we look forward to from you in 2017?
I have A LOT of music to share so, more shows, more visuals, and some cool collabs! Looking forward to taking all of this music to some far away lands.

QUIÑ will be performing at The Mint this Thursday, January 26 in Los Angeles
