CASISDEAD's "The Grid" Video Shoves You In a Bag Then Takes You on the Run

Do you ever feel, as Katy Perry almost sang, like a canvas bag?

If you thought Noisey favourite CASISDEAD was going to go full-on synth, song of the summer happiness then my goodness you were wrong. We last premiered the Tottenham MC, producer and visual director's collab with LATER, which sounded like a lightly Xannie'd Drive soundtrack crossed with 90s boom-bap BBQ warmth and topped our mid-year list of top British songs in 2016. Now he's back on gritty af form with Cyrus-produced "The Grid", the visuals for which we've premiered above.

Let the video lead you from a deserted car park to a cycle ride along London's winding streets, with a detour in a kitchen cupboard along the way. By now, if you've ever watched a CAS video, you'll know that he doesn't airbrush the grim, deadly or gratuitously violent. In this case, "The Grid" twists your sense of perspective, leaving the unanswered question of just what's in the canvas bag lingering in your mind. The track itself marries thwacking drum samples and pounding bass with the sort of plucked guitar line that wouldn't sound out of place in whichever film Jamie Dornan broods his way through next. Through it all, there's one constant: CAS remains as mysterious as ever.
