They May Be the New Kids on the Block But 100% Are All Class

The Brisbane trio are already making waves with their brooding synth music.

Though they’ve only been together a short time, Brisbane three piece 100% are already batting at eighty-per-cent with their nudging electronica.

Chloe, Grace and Lena take a synth, a good amount of fun and some quality vodka then bury it all in a smoke machine and reverb.

The four songs on their impressive new demo fit well with other current Brisbane acts Multiple Man, Excess and Workshop who they will be playing a show with in a few weeks.

We had a chat to Grace to find out thirty-per-cent more about 100%.

Noisey: They look like some tasty beverages in your promo shots.
Grace Stevenson: Dirty martini, espresso martini, grasshopper, mojito. We put all our stocks in cocktails so drink up.

How did you all meet up? Did some of you used to play in hardcore bands?
We've become pals through hanging out at the same places and parties. Lena has roots in hardcore punk, playing in bands and organising shows over the last 10 or so years and Chloe playing in Cannon, of course.

So Lena is currently in Germany. Good beer! Is it true that Berlin is full of Australians?
Lena is currently circuiting her Central Eastern homelands to stay chill. The beer is great but also very cheap, so that makes it even tastier. Berlin has stolen some of Australia's finest (due to the economy making the working creative lifestyle more viable) but that probably means more reason for those in Australia to make it worth staying if they can, ie thru creative and cultural exchange.

Eagle Street is about the Brisbane street. What's so great about it?
Eagle Street in Brisbane is about power suits and honey's making cash. Eagle Street in Alderly is home to sassy divas, lipstick millionaires and out of work dancers. These concepts are fundamental to our process.

Synth based music is making a resurgence in Brisbane (as it is in many places) Who are the hotshots in your itunes at the moment?
We agree the community is booming with diverse talent who we feel supported by and that we can contribute towards in our own way. Our hotshots include Kylie and Madonna, of course as well as Devo, Gorgio Moroder,Yazoo and Anna Domino.

It seems you have only played a few shows but already there is interest in the band and your music.
It's early days at 100% HQ but our outlook is high thanks to early adopters taking on the project with confidence. We will collaborate to produce more work that will satisfy in the upcoming months. We look forward to showing what we've done in 2015. Projected outcomes: bedazzling audiences.
