Sonny & The Sunsets Are All About Self-Acceptance in "Well But Strangely Hung Man"

Alright, let's cut to the chase—dicks can look weird as hell, and you kind of have to work with what you've got. That's sort of the impetus behind Sonny & The Sunsets' "Well But Strangely Hung Man," and Sonny's self-meditation on accepting who he is. In the video, Sonny wakes up one night, recounting all of the times women (and aliens) have commented on his huge, fucked up schlong. He's transported from his bed to the pastel-washed wonders of San Francisco's west side, where he goes on a contemplative and smooth journey down the city's streets. The bass-heavy grooves of the song reverberate off the sung voices, bouncing their way through the video's constantly changing atmosphere while Sonny gives his dick's backstory.

Of the song and video, Sonny says "One of my favorite kinds of art is a style of almost trashy comic book tales but with some depth and meaning at the core of it. I think of Robert Crumb or Hairy Who and the Chicago Imagists, or the Fugs. The list can go on of course. This song and video on the surface is slapstick and farcical but peel back a few layers and you’ve got a comment about the rejected, the freakish or marginalized and heroism."
