Fetty Wap's Performance of "Trap Queen" at the BET Awards Gave Everyone Life

This is how you get a room full of famous people to turn up.

If you weren't at Glastonbury this weekend because you're broke or not in Britain, then the logical alternative to spending your Sunday evening crywanking in a bubble bath was to watch the BET Awards. A lot of great and memorable things happened during last night's ceremony—Kendrick Lamar opened with a performance of "Alright" that was so lit it could have shut down the whole electrical grid, Lil Kim reminded everyone why Lil Kim is still the boss, and P Diddy fell into a hole—but arguably the greatest moment was Fetty Wap closing out with "Trap Queen"—the anthem of 2014 that's enjoying a second and even greater wave of success in 2015.

As well as being the greatest love song of our generation according to Noisey, "Trap Queen" is a track that just keeps on giving. Despite being released this past fall, it's one of the #hottest songs of the summer, has racked up over 133 million views on YouTube, and continues to be the undisputed winner of Most Likely To Be Blasted From A Car Stereo With The Windows Down. It was an obvious and appropriate closer to this year's BET Awards, but the crowd reaction to it was even bigger than expected (watch below).

From the moment Fetty rolls out in all white everything, throwing in Lil B's cooking dance for good measure, he gives everyone in the audience life. There is not a single person who can't be seen turning up or singing along, including Janelle Monáe, Rae Sremmurd, and E-40.

You get the sense that Fetty is eager to prove that he's more than the sum of "Trap Queen", though, tweeting afterwards: "If I could've did My Way… BET would've been a zoo".

Here's looking at 2016: The Year of the Wap.
