Jessie Ware's Video for "You & I (Forever)" Will Make You Want to Hug the Nearest Person

But if your nearest person is your co-worker, maybe give them a heads up…

This is pretty much the best time to drop a video like this. Post-Thanksgiving you're all fat from turkey and warm from fam-time, it's December and everyone is having parties and thinking about what presents to buy and pretending to work while actually dreaming about log fires and knitwear and eating too much (sensing a theme?), and fam-time.

"You & I (Forever)" is one of the best cuts from Jessie Ware's second LP Tough Love—unabashedly romantic and, as ever, Ware's voice is lush and unforced. Although the notion of forever is an increasingly elusive and impossible ideal, like, wishful thinking buddy, it does happen. I was just hanging out with my grandparents last weekend and my grandad was telling me about catching a glimpse of his wife for the first time.

"She was wearing a mini skirt and white go-go boots and I said, 'Oh boy, I just saw my bachelorhood flash before my eyes.'" They were married 75 days later and have been together for 40 plus years. And, hearteningly, it was the second time on the marriage merry-go-round for both of them. Cute. About as cute as the grandfolks in this video, who have a similar story.

The video is comprised of people getting gushy in a photobooth. As per Ware's request family, friends, and fans were asked to come down and get snuggly. It's a pretty heartwarming display.

Regarding the song, Ware had this to say: "It's about waiting for someone to say they want to be yours and they aren't going anywhere. I wanted it to have a driving feel to it, probably because we were in LA and you are always in the car here. I wanted it to feel optimistic, I think that was also the LA sun helping with that."

The sun and someone to love: Sounds like a good time to me. Give someone a snuggle today.
