A Series of Interpretive Vines Based on 'Nothing Was the Same'

Drake's lyrics are vivid in their imagery, but they're also sometimes unintentionally hilarious. With that in mind, we set out to recreate the tale of his newest album through Vine.

FUCKING

DRAKE WEEK

The first time I Drake I was:
✓ By Myself
✓ Drunk off Riesling
✓ In a pool
✓ Naked

I was Drake on a Tuesday.

That scenario, all things considered, is one of the top five Drakiest moments. 'Twas a perfect storm that existed because of every choice every living creature from the beginning of time has made. If one mosquito gets squashed by a T-Rex foot, I may not have even been born, let alone skinny dipping in a pool listening to Drake. I had seen Drake's music on MixtapeTorrent.com. I had actually downloaded Room for Improvement a few years prior but only skimmed it and went back to listening to Hell Rell and Un Kasa songs.

I was housesitting for a co-worker for a week, and on this particular evening I stumbled across Drake's MySpace page with "Say What's Real" as the default song on the player. It had over 11 million plays. 11. Million. ELEVEN. MILLION. I proceeded to add another 5,000 to the play count as I sat there listening to it on repeat. I moved their stereo speakers outside onto the patio and climbed down into the pool. It's what every artist wishes they had— a definitive "Introduction To Me" record — but very few achieve. "Say What's Real" set the tone for me as a Drake fan. As I stared into the speckled sky from the liquid embrace of a heated pool, I immediately got "it."

"How much time this blogger spending on the intro?"

Drake's lyrics can be vivid in their imagery, and surpass merely painting pictures; he captures a scene, a moment, a mood. On the other hand, his lyrics are also sometimes humorous (oft-unintentional). With that duality in mind, I set out to tell the tale of Nothing Was the Same through interpretive Vines.

As part of Drake Week, yesterday we've already pondered "What If Every Song on Drake's New Album Was an Episode of Seinfeld?", had a writer comment on listening to Drake for the first time and had The Kid Mero drop off a Caps-Lock Review. Drake Week continues tomorrow.
