We Made the Sheepdogs Fill Out Our OkCupid-cribbed Questionnaire

"I'm ashamed of all my transgressions…" Spill the beans Sheepdogs! SPILL.

Shimmy into those bell bottoms, shred some caramel-colored suede into tassles, let your bangs grow long and shake it out. The Canadian crew's fifth album is fully in the thrall of that 70s groove. Gnarly double guitar noodling ("Downtown") and soft focus drive-time goodness ("Jim Gordon"). "Take a Trip" will make you want to spark up and dance around and make out. It's an era that continues to hold appeal so many decades and so much innovation in non-perspirational / non-flammable fashion later.

"I feel like every few years the era has a resurgence in fashion, but also musically, modern bands continue to find it such a wellspring of inspiration," says singer Ewan Currie. "It was a real peak of rock 'n' roll and creativity. So many styles were melding together—rock could be anything in the 70s. Also the quality of the musicianship was much higher. Then punk came along and wrecked everything."

Lyrically Currie's returning to some age-old subject matter: "I think somehow I'm always singing about belonging and feeling like an outsider. I'm not sure why but it tends to pop up a lot. When I was a kid my family moved lots and I was often the new kid in school so I got used to feeling like the outsider."

Except now the Saskatoon singer's got a gang. In a totally unrelated fashion we made singer Currie fill out our probing OkCupid-cribbed questionnaire.
