Rubblebucket's Video for "Carousel Ride" is the Story of Nine to Five from Another Dimension

Aliens, chocolate, hairnets, the usual.

If

Rubblebucket's

video "Carousel Ride" proves one thing, it’s that working at a chocolate factory is just as hard as

Lucy led us to believe

. You’re probably getting paid minimum wage, and then you have hairnets, creepy coworkers, and a locked up alien monster made of flowers to deal with. Go ahead, read that sentence again. Clearly nobody can work in conditions like these, a factory coup is surely in order. The video is straight outta the uncanny valley, but it gets an A+ on the originality front.

The Brooklyn-based band mixes dynamics with studied aplomb: pounding drums, warped synth scratches, and a bold horn section are wedded to singer Kalmia Traver’s conversational, lilting singing style, which altogether create the perfect soundtrack for these surreal escapades. It's baroque pop of the extremely epic variety.

Rubblebucket's LP, Survival Sounds, is out via Communion Records on 25.8.
