JD Samson Remixes Alex Winston's "Careless"

This is a double act we're down with.

Alex Winston in the bathtub of dreams. On the last night of SXSW we caught Alex Winston at the Neon Gold showcase. She wasn't feeling very well but she sounded phenomenal. That girl could belt it out even with a serious case of laryngitis. It's no secret that we're big fans of the Michigan-born, Brooklyn-based singer's work—in fact, back at the tailend of 2013, Noisey editor Dan Ozzi wrote an extensive piece about her with the loved up headline "Alex Winston Should Be Famous."

No room for misinterpretation there, eh? This year she'll release a full album record, a follow up to 2012's King Con, and "Careless," from last year, is a nice little taster. Below, the uplifting pop bombast of the original gets a radical JD Samson makeover. What was once emotive in a more straightforward Kate Bush-ian sense, becomes a sparkly, disco-pop number. Pianos are traded in for a symphony of synths and a banging beat.

Nice work! Catch Winston ahead of her album release on tour with Neon Trees—dates below.
