Willie Nelson Announces His 73rd Studio Album, 'Last Man Standing'

He's also released the album's title track, which you can listen to right here. The LP will come out on April 27, a few days before the country icon's 85th birthday.

American icon, country superstar, and cannabis enthusiast Willie Nelson will release yet another new album in 2018. Last Man Standing will be Nelson's 73rd (!) studio album. It's due on April 27, two days before his 85th birthday.

The news comes alongside the release of the album's title track, the video for which you can and definitely should watch at the top of the page. It's an upbeat country jaunt, slyly comedic and and a little mournful in a way that only Nelson himself can really pull off. "I don't want to be the last man standing," he sings. "Wait a minute, maybe I do / If you don't mind, I'll start a new line / Decide after thinking it through."

The album will see Nelson reunite with Buddy Canyon, who co-wrote seven of the songs on last year's critically acclaimed God's Problem Child. This time around, Canyon and Nelson are listed as co-songwriters on all 11 tracks.
