PREMIERE: Get Inuit - "Barbiturates"

Indie pop from England that slides in between Jimmy Eat World and Surfer Blood

Four dudes from Kent in England. They go by the name Get Inuit. Still no words on any direct affiliation with eskimos, but what is clear is the quartet deliver a giddy, memorable brand of power pop and "Barbiturates" is exemplary of this. The song kicks off like Jimmy Eat World circa Bleed American, before catching a wave of distorted guitars. It's that quiet-loud-quiet-loud thing and it sounds glorious. "The song is broadly about someone slowly but surely becoming dependent on a drug to live a normal life," explains singer Jamie Glass. "The song depicts a person's need to take barbiturates to be able to function and move without pain whilst also becoming addicted. The music is meant to characterize the mood swings that a person goes through when needing sedation, with heavy guitar and screams representing the pain and mental anguish, with the quiet sections showing a more controlled state."
