Enter the Horrors of Space and Existence in The Devil Wears Prada's Video for "Planet A"

In space, no one can hear a breakdown.

Space is probably the most terrifying thing out there. When Richard Branson inevitibly launches his space tourism program, and you win a free trip thanks to some deal at your office job, what are you going to think when you get up there? To see the complete vastness of the infinite reach that is space? Will it feel empty or will you be at ease? There's no way of knowing at this point, but if you want to simulate a little bit of that horror you should watch The Devil Wears Prada's new video for "Planet A."

The Devil Wears Prada is a metal band that's been around for ten years, as of 2015. For that past decade, the group has advanced their sound and direction, from writing songs with titles like "Reptar, King of the Ozone" to pushing past what you'd expect out of the genre. Tomorrow, August 21, the band is releasing their second concept EP Space. In the band's new video for "Planet A," they further this point tenfold. The video follows an interstellar explorer tumbling through the depths of time and space. It gets wildly abstract, a continuation in the band's attention to detail when it comes to visuals. One take can even be the journey into space representing birth, survival, and inevitible demise. Or like, cool space shit. The song itself features the band making better music than ever, weaving in synthesizers and new textures in with gutteral chugs. The Devil Wears Prada has changed for the better, better than you may realize.
