Mega Bog Gets Saxy with "Diznee"

This track could be likened to a nervous turtle…

What's the deal with Mega Bog. Wonder if she—that's Erin Birgy, resident of Brooklyn—knows that in the UK bog means toilet. It's also swampy, marsh-like ground that's often found in the north of England. Eh, who knows. Seems likely she didn't choose her musical moniker based on either of these definitions. What is clear is that Ms. Birgy loves to surprise and she loves the sax, which we here at Noisey thoroughly support. Premiering below is "Diznee"—the first song lifted from her forthcoming second record Happy Together (out February 3 on Nicey Music)—which features just the right amount of saxification it, plus nimble guitars and an elastic, unpredictable vocal that truly delights. It sounds (to us) like a forgotten gem from the 70s that oughta soundtrack some movie montage about a girl making her way, and making her mark, in the big, bad city. It's just the right amount of loopy. "'Diznee''s a circular frenetic reality of running hard and blind into the next phase of newness, sometimes more brutal, and sometimes a warm and nervous turtle, claws up towards a volatile bubble, living my dream," explains Birgy.
