Last fall, singer Justine Skye revealed she was the victim of domestic violence when she released the music video for her single "Build." The 23-year-old Roc Nation artist wrote about the assault in an Instagram post: “I felt stupid, angry, depressed.. blamed myself. Trying to figure out how someone who claimed they loved me so much could find such evil within themselves to hurt me mentally and physically.” At the time, she declined to name her abuser but told the Breakfast Club, “It’s not even about protecting him… It’s not about revenge, it’s not about exposing this person… Maybe one day I will say who it is.”

On Monday, Feb. 11 Skye took to Twitter to accuse her ex, Harlem rapper and “Mo Bamba” artist Sheck Wes and his associates of stalking and violence, "Taking a walk with my friends and my man and Sheck Wes (my abuser) and his friends decide to STALK US and attack my friends.. two cars full of niggas while he sat in the car like a bitch. You’re pathetic sheck and you beat women. You hit your girl before me and you’ll do it again." Skye also tweeted, " You’re pathetic… and all the people defending you, ya whole bitch ass label.. everyone. You spreading lies about me. Moral of the story is, if you never put your hands on me.. you wouldn’t be in this situation and you just keep making it worse."

This morning, Wes responded to the allegations: “I’ve chosen to remain silent until now out of respect for actual victims of abuse. But I cannot stand by while lies are repeatedly told about me. I never hit or beat any women and I did not beat up or jump anybody.” He also went on Instagram Live to deny the accusations, "I never hit any woman at all . . . Just leave me out of all of this.” Wes, who is 20-years-old is signed to both Travis Scott's Cactus Jack Records and Kanye West's GOOD Music labels. His first album Mudboy was in released in October 2018 and featured Wes’ first Billboard Top 10 hit single in “Mo Bamba.”

DC rapper Goldlink, who is in a relationship with Skye, had previously alluded to the accusations against Wes in a song called “Justine’s Interlude.” It debuted earlier this year at COLORS and featured the lyrics, So many stories 'bout you and so-and-so who from Harlem / It ain't too many from Harlem, so take a guess.” Noisey has contacted representatives for Sheck Wes and Justine Skye requesting comment and will update this post if either respond.
