Lil Yachty Is Pissed on "X Men"

It's tough to imagine, but even Yachty gets angry.

When Lil Yachty introduced us to his world on Lil Boat last year, we met three sides of the rapper: benevolent narrator Darnell Boat, bratty spitter Lil Boat, and Auto-Tuned, celestially blissful Lil Yachty. Much of his output since has been in that last mode, all grins and spaced-out beats. His material for Teenage Feelings has even veered into full-on pop. But Yachty is from Atlanta, and that's the realm of rap that his Lil Boat persona inhabits on new track "X Men."

If a song has the letter "X" by itself in the title, it's hard. If a song title references superheroes in the title, it's also hard. This does both, so prepare for 808 destruction. And sure enough, there is no melody here, just buzzing sub-bass and a looming hook from Texas rapper Evander Griiim. There's also the piercing line "you don't have a place in my heart, bro," which is a very Yachty way to express not fucking with someone. Stream "X Men" below.
