Big week for Sufjan! Ahead of his Oscar performance on Sunday, he's featured today on the brand new single by his Carrie & Lowell collaborator Laura Veirs, "Watch Fire." The pretty, campfire-reminiscent track comes from Veirs' tenth studio album, The Lookout, which is due for release on April 13.

For Sufjan's part, while this is firmly Veirs' show, his fragile voice offsets the folky power of her parts, and, as they showed on Carrie & Lowell (to which Veirs contributed vocals) he seems at home amongst the cosy acoustic guitars and atmospheric strings. According to Pitchfork, Veirs said of Sufjan's involvement, "I heard his voice on this song when I wrote it. We’ve been friends for a long time and he’s given me quite a few artistic pep talks over the years." It seems that this is a solid partnership, and if it keeps producing tracks like this, then long may it continue.
