Haim Discusses Their Upcoming Summer Album and How They're Going to Kick 2017 in the Nuts

“I played a fretless five-string [bass], and I haven’t played a fretless five-string since I was a 12-year-old listening to Korn.” - Este Haim

Haim have been musically lowkey since their supporting tour for debut album Days Are Gone even as their profile has technically risen. Some sci-fi soundtrack appearances here, some Taylor Swift hangouts there, but little info on a new LP. Though they teased new music earlier this year, our first good whiff of what the Haim sisters are cooking comes via Entertainment Weekly, and the general message is that we are in no way prepared for what they've got in the kitchen.

According to the interview, the as-yet-untitled album is still on track for a summer 2017 release and will be a more "band" effort with only indie pop go-to Ariel Rechstaid and ex-Vampire Weekend whiz Rostam Batmanglij joining the core trio on production. Bassist Este Haim name drops Korn as a possible influence on arrangement decisions and concludes with a promise/threat, "You don't even know what's coming for you. I'm warning you. You. Don't. Even. Know." Let's start getting optimistic before this shit year is up. Read the entire interview here.
