Feel Quietly Empowered by Molly Nilsson's New Track "About Somebody"

The synth queen is back with added sax.

Swedish-born, Berlin-dwelling singer-songwriter Molly Nilsson is the queen of the understated synth. Paired with her authoritative vocal, it's made for a distinctive, atmospheric sound that she's broadened and expanded upon over the years , always in a manner that leaves you sort of convinced that she's a secret member of Simple Minds, time-traveling from the past to make sure that classic-sounding pop songs still exist in the future.

Today, we're gifted new track "About Somebody," which will appear on an upcoming 7" from Molly's own Dark Skies Association and Night School Records, due next month. "About Somebody" makes a fun addition to Molly's usual set-up in the form of a sax line, which lends it a strangely uplifting daytime-comedy-theme-song feel that it's hard not to dig. Combined with the song's jauntily empowering chorus sentiment ("You don't need to be somebody / 'cause you're already somebody") it makes for an earworm that you won't want to get rid of anytime soon.
