Big Sean Becomes Youngest Person to Receive Key to City of Detroit

The honor acknowledges his philanthropic work in starting an educational program in his home city.

Big Sean, thrower of footballs, has been awarded the key to the city of Detroit. At a ceremony on Saturday April 1, Mayor Mike Duggan bestowed the honor on the 29-year-old rapper in acknowledgement of his work in setting up educational programs for young people in the city.

Sean, born Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, set up Mogul Prep with his mother, Myra Anderson. The program is designed to encourage local kids to stay in school, using careers in the entertainment industry as an inspiration.

Big Sean becomes the youngest recipient of the key to the city of Detroit. He joins fellow musicians Stevie Wonder and Sammy Davis Jr, Sesame Street puppet Elmo, and the late murderous dictator Saddam Hussein in receiving the key.
