These days, EDM is as much a marketing term is it is a genre. Prodigy's reissue of their magnum opus feels downright political.
This year is the 15th anniversary of The Fat Of The Land, punk-rave forebears the Prodigy's magnum opus. The trio is celebrating by reissuing the damn thing through XL Recordings, and considering that these days EDM is as much a marketing term is it is a genre, it might not be a bad idea - reminding "the kids" that they used to be a sweaty, dancing mass in a warehouse instead of "a new rave generation of mainstream consumers" is a downright political act, and one that we can fully get behind.
In addition to the reissue, the Prodigy is dropping a full collection of remixes from the record, and we've got a sick one to premiere. Here's the Baauer remix of "Mindfields." Check it out, and be sure to pick up the reissue. It's out December 4, but you can pre-order it right here.
