Alert! There's an Old Guy Busking Stormzy Covers on London's Carnaby Street

An old dude singing a grime track is a little different than covering "Wonderwall" with a ukelele.

This article originally appeared on Noisey UK.

Traditionally, buskers aren't cool. They do things like cover "Wonderwall" with a ukulele, or bang out bastardized violin interpretations of Jimi Hendrix songs. Traditionally, buskers aren't cockney pensioners spitting bars from UK grime's hottest hits.

Spotted on Carnaby Street this afternoon, is an elderly gentleman accompanied by a small portable amp and a music stand, smashing through a cover of Stormzy's "Shut Up" over that classic XTC beat. So, if you've never seen your grandad shout, "Oi rudeboy!" into a microphone, this is an insight into what that might be like. It's amazing. It's arguably better than the time Stormzy performed outside the Noisey office and a girl out-performed him so hard he had to pass her the mic.
