Lil Mama's New "Sausage" Is Surprisingly Filling

The "Lip Gloss" rapper serves up gobs of cheese with her "Sausage."

Lip gloss popper and occasional Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez cosplayer Lil Mama quietly returned to rap last night with the release of the video for "Sausage." It's an old school hip-hop infused take on those goofy "sausage movement" videos that percolated on the cool internet teen circuit a couple months ago. It's a real swag vampire move, latching her caboose onto the end of a dying viral sensation (all the while weaseling the whip dance and Brooklyn's emerging "milly rock" dance into the mix), but let's talk about this thing for a second.

First of all, the style: Look at her Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle bomber jacket at 0:35. Hella clean! Look at her artist's rendering of the outfit and choregraphy from Mary J. Blige's "Not Gon Cry" video at 1:56. Look at the mimicry of Beyoncé's beach blanket "Drunk in Love" video at 2:28. (OK, maybe skip that part.) The music is even more referential, with nods to Big Sean's "IDFWU," Wu-Tang Clan's "Method Man" and "C.R.E.A.M.," Fetty Wap's "Trap Queen," Kelis' "Milkshake," and Chedda da Connect's "Flick of da Wrist."

It's like the rap internet slow motion projectile vomiting in your face for four and a half minutes. It's exactly what you'd expect from the kind of rapper who crashes a Jay Z performance just to mean mug in her b-boy stance. It's awful. It's great. It's everything.
