Grey Gordon Puts Down the Acoustic Guitar and Gets Serious on 'Forget I Brought It Up'

Listen to "Indianapolis 2008" from everyone's favorite face-tattooed emo kid.

Grey Gordon is a tough character to figure out. In the past year or so, the Fort Wayne, IN musician has released an EP (2013’s Still at Home Here) as well as a split with Chris Farren. Both of which were your standard sad-dude-with-an-acoustic-guitar brands of rainy day sap-rock. Which is funny because you wouldn’t expect to hear sad breakup songs from a dude with gnarly throat and face tattoos. But hey, books/covers/judging and all that. Now, on the release of his first proper album, Forget I Brought It Up, Gordon gives his stripped down song a bit of bite. Armed with a full band, he puts down the acoustic guitar, flips on the distortion, and adopts more of a 90s Midwestern emo or indie rock sound a la Superchunk or Guided by Voices.
