Ratking Producer Sporting Life's Win Streak Continues with "Triple-Double No Assists"

The New York producer's sound explodes into a million directions on his latest solo release.

If you've been following the Manhattan rap group Ratking over the last few years, you've probably sung the praises of their producer Sporting Life. His apocalyptic beat construction on last year's gem So It Goes split the difference between classic commercial New York extravagance and futuristic electronic sounds, and on this winter's 700-Fill, he reined it into spacy Def Jux era boom bap. Sport just released his basketball themed solo debut 55 5's, and it showcases a dynamic range the Ratking material only hinted at.

Sport's latest offering from 55 5's is "Triple-Double No Assists" (as in "Do the rap and the track, triple double no assists" from Kanye's "Monster"?), a wonder of precarious time signatures and Aphex Twin-style bedlam. Stream "Triple-Double No Assists" below, check out the Noisey approved video for "Badd" here, and see about tracking down one of the 300 limited edition 55 5's cassette tapes Sport pressed up for the occasion. I got mine.
