The Newtown Sessions - Destruction Unit

Destruction Unit are a rare breed of desert dwellers from Tempe, AZ making bone throttling psychedelic noise punk. It's loud, abrasive, and guaranteed to alter your reality by annihilating your eardrums.

The Newtown Sessions is a new bi-weekly in-studio series, brought to Noisey by our friends over at Newtown Radio, the Brooklyn-based online radio station.

Destruction Unit are a rare breed of desert dwellers from Tempe, AZ making bone throttling psychedelic noise punk. It's loud, abrasive, and guaranteed to alter your reality by annihilating your eardrums.

Led by Ryan Rousseau on guitar, vocals, and synths, his brother Rusty on bass, Nick Nappa on guitar, JS Aurelius on guitar, and Andrew Flores on drums. Together, they form Destruction Unit and Ascetic House, a creative contingent in Tempe making music, art, and short films. Worth pointing out they also donate their records for free to incarcerated persons!

We caught the band's New York show on their recent tour with Merchandise and Milk Music and we were able to record this killer Newtown Session. Watch Destruction Unit tear through living hell on a new track called "Night Loner," and be sure to stay tuned for more great coverage of your favorite artists on Newtown Radio.

You can also stream the full live set here with four new songs, off their forthcoming LP on Sacred Bones.
