Yoni & Geti Serve Up Downcast Power Pop with "Madeline"

The duo of Serengeti and Yoni Wolf chronicles a loving marriage pulled slowly apart.

Yoni Wolf of Why? and rapper Serengeti are Yoni & Geti, and their new album Testarossa chronicles a loving marriage pulled apart by the strain of the husband's failing music career. The brand new "Madeline" finds Davy and Maddy, the lovers in question, drifting apart, as Davy's strenuous touring schedule drags him around the world, while Maddy languishes in the cold of winter at home alone. "Madeline" is a notable gear shift from the previously released "Lunchline," a showcase for Serengeti's nimble mic skills. The new cut is methodical, downcast power pop, as close to the world of Why? (think "Brook and Waxing") as "Lunchline" was to Geti's. The duo last crossed paths on Serengeti's gutting Family and Friends; Testarossa's concept and story were pieced together during a recent tour. Steam "Madeline" below. Testarossa is out May 6 on Joyful Noise Recordings. Pre-order right here.
