The Scenes of Pitchfork Music Festival, Day Two

Pusha T, Danny Brown, Twin Peaks in a wheelchair, St. Vincent, The Field, and more.

On the second day of Pitchfork Music Festival, people rubbed up against each other a little more, the beer lines were a little longer, the bathrooms were a little grosser and the sun was a little more grueling. The air was also noticeably heavier with weed smoke and dust from the baseball fields. But the crowd braved it all to see Neutral Milk Hotel, Pusha T, Danny Brown, FKA Twigs, St. Vincent, The Field, Kelela, tUnE-yArDs, The Range, Cloud Nothings, KA, Wild Beasts, and others.

Some of the day's talking points were whether or not Pusha T would make it to his set–despite running late, in the end, he did–all of the pierced septums and bucket hats, how it was the Big Day for R&B with performances from FKA Twigs and Kelela, Twin Peaks' frontman soldering on during their set despite being in a wheelchair, tUnE-yArDs' surprising ability to draw a huge bro crowd who might or might not have thought they were listening to the younger sister of Sublime's Bradley Nowell, and all of the weeping that took place during Neutral Milk Hotel's set. Jeff Mangum and co. turned out to be the perfect cool-down act, ending the night on an emotionally bittersweet note as if he was tucking everyone into bed in the fetal position. Because he's Jeff Mangum, no photos were allowed during Neutral Milk Hotel's set but photographer Ellie Pritts was on the scene capturing everything else.
