We’re Throwing an Awesome Rap Party in Toronto on Friday

This Friday, we’re bringing you a brand new Noisey Canada Rap Party at Parts and Labour in Toronto—featuring Roney, 6th Letter, and Tasha the Amazon.

If you were around Toronto in August, you probably heard about the rager we threw with Tre Mission and Raz Fresco at the infamous Rainbow Palace in Kensington Market. If not, you need to step your internet game up! But anyway, it was one of the sweatiest parties we've ever been to, and yes, that's a good thing sometimes. This Friday, we're bringing you a brand new Noisey Canada Rap Party at Parts and Labour in Toronto—featuring Roney, 6th Letter, and Tasha the Amazon. In case you're not already familiar with this stellar sampling of Toronto's young rap talent, we thought we'd put together a little primer.

Tasha the Amazon

We premiered Tasha's video for "Scallywags" a few months back because it showcased the realistic grittiness that comes with partying in Toronto sometimes—with a few extra facemasks for an added dosage of non-ballerific rap flare. The local buzz around Tasha's new tape, FiDiYootDem, is already really strong so we're excited to help throw her homecoming celebration of getting the project out there onto the internet tubes. Stream the tape above, and get ready to see it live.

The 6th Letter

This dude is one of our favourites in the city. As part of Raz Fresco's ever expanding ΒΛΚΞΓ$CLUB crew, 6th Letter appears to be the stoneriest of the bunch—which is a huge accomplishment. Massive piles of marijuana aside, 6th's music is getting better and better every time we hear it. And, to get a taste of it yourself, check out his video for 4:20AM above—a slow, chill, piano heavy weed-rap track. There's much more 6th Letter music to come, so stay tuned.

Roney

We hung out with Roney a few months ago to figure out exactly who this motormouth Toronto spitter is—and you can read all about that here. Back then, we called him Toronto's Gangsta Rap Wunderkind and our opinion has not changed since. We're incredibly stoked to be in the young rapper's presence on Friday and we're not too sure what to expect—which is generally the best kind of feeling you can have going into a wild show. Roney's videos make it clear he's not about that Forest Hill, Degrassi lifestyle, so it'll be really interesting to see if a dude like him can continue to put Toronto on the map as a #1 music city. We're pretty sure he can.
