Medicine could’ve easily hopped on the 90s nostalgia reunion train (choo choo!) with a bevy of their old peers and raked in a bunch of crumpled bills, but instead, they decided to be a goddamn rock band. Currently comprised of Brad Laner, Elizabeth Thompson and Jim Goodall, the band's first move after releasing 2013’s successful comeback album To the Happy Few was to get their middle-aged asses back in the studio and crank out another one. Though they’re best known to a particular demographic as “that band that played ‘Time Baby 3’ on The Crow soundtrack,” the Los Angeles collective has carved out its own piece of the American pie and left a substantial mark on its indie rock landscape.

On Home Everywhere, these granddaddies and grand dame of American shoegaze prove that they haven’t missed a long, sustained beat. The album teases out short bursts of shimmering noise-pop, tossing in some jangly Brazilian-inspired sounds to keep you guessing. It may have taken Medicine eighteen years to get back up on the horse, but founder Brad Laner kept plenty busy in the meantime, throwing himself into creating post-punk oddities in Savage Republic and collaborating with the likes of M83, Brian Eno, and Caribou. Extracurricular activities kept them sharp, but now these Medicine men (and woman) are ready to come out swinging.

Medicine is a band with a long, interesting history behind them, and what one hopes will be a bright future. Check out their trippy new video for “Move Along – Down the Road.”
