Straight Arrows Premiere Their New Single "Petrified" and Welcome You to Their Sofa

A hazy good time from Sydney's Straight Arrows

Want to know what it’s like to share a few cheeky smokes on the sofa in Owen Penglis from Straight Arrows' living room? Just watch the video for their track “Petrified”. Stare long enough into the screen and you can almost smell the smoky haze.

Shot by Penglis and Royal Headache’s Lawrence Hall, and edited by Straight Arrow’s Angie Bermuda, the video is a good match to the song's fuzzed and buzzed psych pop.

The single from the Sydney band’s forthcoming LP Rising—out 13 June—“Petrified” is less frantic than some of their earlier work, but does a good job at capturing their cheek.

Rising was half recorded at Owen’s house and the rest in his new legitimate studio he built after neighbours complained about too many fun times back at his place.

'Rising' is out June 13 on Rice is Nice Records in Australia, Hozac in the USA, and Agitated in the UK and Europe.

Catch up with the Straight Arrows as Noisey presents their Rising tour:
