Moses Sumney's "Quarrel" Video Is a Tragic Love Story About a Horse

The folk-soul maverick's new 'Aromanticism' clip is beautiful and odd.

"Quarrel" was probably the highlight off Moses Sumney's debut album Aromanticism, a winding journey from gentle folk to jazz freakouts that never felt too extra. Given Sumney's taste for rich visuals, it'd be expected that "Quarrel" would have a video to match its aural treasures, and the new video doesn't disappoint in that regard.

Directed by Sumney himself and Allie Avital, the beautifully-shot, snow-strewn clip follows the artist as he cares for a horse in a manner bordering on romantic. Let the "tfw bae cuddles with you in the stable" memes commence. However, there's a tragic development later on, and then a wild twist in the final shot that implies that Sumney is… also a horse? Not physically, but in his soul, maybe. I'm not sure exactly what's going on but it's all extremely pretty and the song is great. Watch the "Quarrel" video above.
