Rich The Kid's "New Freezer" with Kendrick Lamar Slaps Very Hard

The song just premiered on Zane Lowe's World Record.

Outside of releasing his fourth studio album, DAMN., this year, Kendrick Lamar has blessed select artists like Future, SZA, Vince Staples, and a couple more with guest verses. But the most unexpected collaboration of all is probably his recent appearance on Rich The Kid's "New Freezer," which was premiered on Zane Lowe's World Record today. Back in January, Rich shared a now-deleted photo on Instagram with Kendrick in the studio that raised suspicions that a collaboration might be on the way, saying he was "Blessed to work wit Kendrick Lamar."

On the track, Rich raps in his usual, rapid triple-time flow and Kendrick offers a combination of sped up raps and slowed harmonizing. When Zane Lowe asked Rich how the song came about, he said that he'd met Kendrick for the first time at Interscope Studios the night of the photo, played him the unfinished track, and impressed K Dot enough that the Compton rapper asked to hop on. "It was shocking. just to hear kendrick on a song with me," Rich said of his first time getting Kendrick's verse via email. Listen to the track below.
