Syd's Outtake "Treading Water" Is Better Than Your Fave's Lead Single

Blame Big Sean for this being cut from 'Fin.'

Syd's debut solo album Fin goes stupid hard partially because it has no fat. It's 37 minutes of limber throwback-ish R&B and nothing more. Still, a new outtake shared by Syd after announcing it on Twitter makes you think that maybe just one more song wouldn't have hurt. "Treading Water" rides an impeccable jazz-funk beat by Internet member and regular collaborator Steve Lacy (and Ronald "Flip" Colson) that you may recognize from Big Sean and Jhené Aiko's "Selfish," off their weird tabloid-bait concept album TWENTY88. You can listen to Syd truly do this beat justice below.
