Katy Perry’s Video For “Hey Hey Hey” is Basically Marie Antoinette With Smart Phones

Capitalism or feminism: you decide!

Haven’t you always wanted a 4-minute reimagining of Marie Antoinette from the woke pop lizard we have come to know as Katy Perry, but with loads of smart phones and choreography? Well, here ya go! Merry Christmas! You can thank me later!

The video is for her track “Hey Hey Hey” and you can watch it above, like I did, and wonder whether it’s a thinly-veiled advert for iPhones or a statement for women empowerment (she channels Joan of Arc, at one point, brandishing a sword in a rainbow dress). She also drinks a small ice-coffee with the logo 'Napoleon's Coffee' in the same style as Starbucks. What does it all mean? IDK! Capitalism or feminism: you decide!

“After a year of peaks and valleys (remember, it's all a journey), I wanted to end 2017 with a fun, triumphant piece of pop candy,” she wrote underneath a clip of the vid uploaded to Instagram, “Just think of it as a glam little stocking stuffer from me to you. ‘Hey Hey Hey’ is one of my favourite songs from Witness and for me, it embodies the fighting spirit I always want you to be able to find within yourself, and to see in me. So ho, ho, ho; and hey, hey, hey; and happy holidays.”
