Lorde is no stranger to pulling out an acoustic cover during a live set. See: her recent version of Martha Wainwright's "Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole" at Canada's Osheaga festival, for example. Last weekend she came up with another excellent and typically offbeat one.On stage at San Francisco's Outside Lands festival, she was joined by her Melodrama collaborator and producer Jack Antonoff (of Bleachers fame) for an extremely sweet cover of Paul Simon's "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard." The cover is the latest chapter in Lorde's love affair with Paul Simon (who's also a noted influence of Antonoff's) – a sample of him speaking is used for the opening of Melodrama's "Hard Feelings/Loveless", and he's officially credited on the track.Acting more like wholesome pals toasting marshmallows around a campfire than two pop stars performing for thousands at a music festival, they performed the track sitting on the edge of the stage and honestly if you can make it through (watch above!) without feeling warm and fuzzy, you're much tougher than me.Follow Lauren on Twitter.
