808INK's "3 Piece Suit" Is a Bass Heavy Bank Holiday Banger

The new one from the South East London duo better be everywhere immediately.

"Banger" is a word that gets thrown around a bit, basically just to describe any good song that is vaguely upbeat. Not all bangers, however, are made equal, and I have recently devised a failsafe experiment to separate the men from the boys, the wheat from the chaff, the absolute anthems from the tracks you hear and forget about. It is thus: any banger worth its salt will compel you to move your body along to it even slightly – a foot tap at the bus stop, a shoulder bump at your desk, a nod in the library – because when a banger is powerful, it seeps into your skin, gets into your blood stream, and sends the following message to your brain: "if you do not dance to this sound, you will die." That information is what lies at the core of every banger.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is this: the new 808INK song, "3 Piece Suit," is one of those songs that feels irresistible. I defy anyone to hear it and not be instantly forced into at least mid-level head bobbing by 808Charmer's bass-y beat and infectious hook (a press release describes Andre 3000 as an inspiration.) It's one of those tracks that feels like an immediate hit, oozing confidence and technique, and sees 808Charmer and Mumblez Black Ink proving exactly why they're one of the most fascinating acts coming out of south east London – and probably the UK in general. Just in time for the three day weekend, "3 Piece Suit" is probably going to be inescapable, and that's fantastic news.
