The Garden Won't Stop Being DIY Pop Weirdos

Their trippy video for “No Destination” was filmed in the desert and we're premiering it right now.

If you haven’t, for some reason, heard of Wyatt and Fletcher Shears (even though they have been releasing really good shit since way back in 2011) here are some facts about them. They are 24-year old twin brothers from Orange County, California. They sometimes model for big fashion houses like YSL and Balenciaga. And, of most relevance, they are neo-punk weirdo pop wunderkinds who have released a grand total of 20 (20!) albums between them, two of which were under joint venture The Garden. We have written about them on more than one occasion, because we are loyal fans.

Now, The Garden are back with a new track and video, “No Destination”, which we’re premiering above. The whole thing is filmed across a rural, dusty desert and it stars an anarchist clown who looks like they got their outfit from a thrift store (plus a really cute dog). The track itself is exactly the sort of continual brilliance we've come to expect from the twins; super melodic, breezily lo-fi and jam packed with guitars.

“Finishing this video was an accomplishment in itself. The trials and struggles we all dealt with whilst shooting it make ‘No Destination’ that much more meaningful… and slightly hilarious at times,” Fletcher Shears told me over email, before Wyatt waded in with some pieces of wisdom about the passing of time. "Regardless of your life's goal, take time to appreciate the journey there and don't forget how important that is. By the time you reach your ideal goal, you might be more satisfied with the journey to get there rather than the end point.” Soak that one in.

But that is not all: The Garden will also be releasing a third album, Mirror Might Steal Your Charm, on 30 March via Epitaph Records. Scroll down past the album artwork below to peep all their tour dates, which will see them travel across Europe and North America as well.
