We've done our fair share of yelling about the frankly spectacular lineup promised by new event All Points East over the ten-day extravaganza due to take place at east London's Victoria Park. Bookended by a music festival headlined by LCD Soundsystem, The xx, and Björk, and three separate headline events (The National, Nick Cave, Catfish and the Bottlemen), it looks to be pretty excellent, and it'll be great to see what life the new festival of sorts can inject into London's festival calendar.In between all that action, however, All Points East continues, and today they've announced a free event, due to take place on Monday 28 May (a UK Bank Holiday), called All Points Equal. It will kick off APE's "In the Neighbourhood" series of weekday events between the two huge weekends. Themed on 100 years of votes for "(some) women" in Britain as a press release (rightfully) puts it, the event will see live panels, banner-making for kids, outdoor film screenings (catch Moana, Suffragette, and Made in Dagenham throughout the day), free live music, a staged Suffragette rally, and loads more.Most of the activities have been sourced from organisations and suppliers in and around Tower Hamlets, demonstrating APE's commitment to making it feel like a community-minded affair. Often in London, festivals take over a space in a particular locality for a few days, without really giving much back to those who live around it, so it will be good to see how well APE manage to put local families and traders at the heart of what they're trying to do.
