South London's Jodie Abacus Releases "Keep Your Head Down"

The British Thundercat takes on a more soulful tone on his new track.

For the uninitiated, Jodie Abacus is a South London born songwriter whose sound fits somewhere between Thundercat and BBC Radio One's A-list. A while back we premiered his song "Good Feeling" – a track drenched in so much funk it may as well have descended down from the mothership. Jodie's newest track is a little bit different though. For a start, it's more soulful. The songwriting itself takes on a darker tone too, with Abacus referencing elements of the refugee crisis. "Run towards the land of dreams, to run away from smoke and fire", he sings. "But there's no welcome mat and there's no grass that's ever green. Is there nowhere to retire?"
