This Is The Best Mixtape That We've Heard In Ages
It's by a group called Kitchen Party and features samples from Nas and covers of Aaliyah, The Supremes and Brandy.
The other day I was sitting at my desk, staring into space, hating on life, and pretending to do work, when the new mixtape from London group Kitchen Party dropped into my inbox. Now, post-listen, it’s probably the coolest thing that I’ve heard all week and I wanted to show it to all of you.
The tape is called 11th Floor and it’s essentially a throwback to the golden era of pop-led disco music before EDM came and ruined everyone’s lives, featuring samples from Nas and covers of Aaliyah, The Supremes and Brandy, all mixed down by DJ Cable from Rinse FM.
The girls are called Kitchen Party, because, like everyone who lives in small inner city accommodation, they do a lot of partying within the realm of culinary workspace. You can catch them at their website here.
