Crep heads will already know about J2K's work. The Roll Deep grime crew alum came up with the sent-from-the-gods Crep Protect spray that kept so many of your trainers looking box-fresh. But he's working on other projects, too – one of which involves returning to music. Not one to do it by halves, J2K's come back big, with a new single that dropped last month on Wiley's label CTA. Now he's got visuals to match, which we know about because we're premiering them above. The "Rotten Apples" video is a slick, black-and-white affair mainly filmed throughout London's streets at night (as all good grime vids are) and also features fellow former Roll Deep member Wiley, in both bars and in person. No big deal.The track itself is cold, solid takedown of music industry time wasters. The kind that say, "yeah, yeah, yeah let's do this" then air you for months. "Try tell a man I can't eat, try tell a man I can't feed my yout" J2K spits over classic icy strings and beats. "Try and tell a man I ain't qualified, try tell a man you don't follow my moves / I've been doing this a long time, now you wanna sit in my grooves."
